THE ARCHITECTURE
DOORWAY
At the entrance of the temple of Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin, there is a massive (praveshdwar ) doorway called Mahadwar .
The temple has the big gold plated kalash that is built on the main dome with ornamented designs.
THE FACADE
The main statues that are seen on the facade of the temple of Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin are Shri Bhishan Bhairavi, Shri Virbhadra, Shri Dakshinmurti, Shri Mahakal, Kalasanhhar Shri Mahakali, Shri Kartikey, Shri Kaliamardan, Gajesurvadh, Hiraanhakshyapudvadh, Shri Suryanarayana, Shri Saraswati, Shri Laximi, Shri Chandra, Shri Ketu, Shri Rahu, Shri Shanidev, Shri Shukr, Shri Brihaspati, Shri Buddh, Shri Mangal, Shri Dhavatari, Shri Ardhnarinateswar, Anandtandev, Shri Harihareshwar, Shri Rajrajeshwari, Shri Bhudevi, Shri Gajendrameksh and Shri Sheetaladevi.
DWARPALS
As we enter the temple, there are the statues of the Dwarpals or the soldiers of the Goddess. At the time of Arti, they also venerated.
STATUES OF SHANTADURGA
In the garbhagraha , there are two statues of Shree Shantadurga. One is in a sitting position where the Devi is standing in the silver makhara . On either sides of the makhar , there are two lamps called nanddeeps . At the right hand side of the Devi, there is a statue of Shree Khanderai. The second idol of the Devi is in standing position. The same is the Darshanamurti because the devotees can take darshan of her daily. This statue is made up of the panchadatu or the five metals. She is standing on a patt. She holds a trishul , sudarshan chakra and an arrow in her hand. On the entrance of the garbhagraha , there is a Rashichakra or the zodiac sign with the following engraving:
SABHAMANDAP
In the big tiled hall that is separated from the garbhagraha by wooden railings, there are about 48 small wooden statues like those of Samudramanthan, Maishasurvadha etc.
Outside the temple, there are four statues of the Vedas below the kalash namely the Rigveda, Samveda, Atharvaveda and Yugurveda in the sitting position.
WOODWORK
The temple has one main door and two other doors at the right and left respectively. Inside the temple, there is a Pradakshana Path where the devotees could take devotional rounds.
THE RATH GRAHA
On left hand side of the temple is the Rath Graha (the place where the chariots are housed).
